Delete a competition

You can only delete a competition that has never had an order. After the first order, a competition must stay on record, because deleting it would also delete the customers' orders and tickets. Close it instead.

Before you start

  • Open Competitions, then Competitions.
  • Check whether anyone has bought tickets. The Sold column in the list shows this.

Delete a competition with no orders

  1. Open the competition from the list, then click More actions.
  2. Click Delete and confirm.

You can also use the row menu in the list, where Delete appears for competitions that have never had an order.

If tickets have sold

Delete is not available. If you try, you are told the competition has had orders and to close it instead.

To stop sales, open the competition, click More actions, then Close Now. Only admins can do this, unless the owner has switched it on for moderators. A closed competition stays on record and can still be drawn.

If a competition must be cancelled for good, you refund the orders one by one. See Orders and refunds.

What your customers will see

A deleted competition disappears from your site. A closed competition shows that sales are closed.

Tips

  • Think carefully before you close a competition early. Customers have paid for tickets.

Common questions

Can I delete several competitions at once? Only super admins can bulk delete. Competitions that have had orders are kept.

Can I get a deleted competition back? No. Deleting is permanent.
